FERN is a non-profit community organisation comprised of a wide range of people, predominantly from the Fremantle area, who care about sustainability. It is run soley by volunteers.
FERN formed to ensure continued use of the Montreal/High Street Community Garden site. Over 1000 residents expressed support for retaining the site for permaculture use and public access.
We now have an inclusive community driven centre that engages, responds to and inspires community interest in and action toward sustainable living practices.
We look to East Perth City Farm, Rockingham Regional Environmental Centre and CERES in Melbourne as successful examples of our vision for FERN as the Fremantle equivalent.
We have a long way to go in invigorating the site but continually surprise ourselves with the leaps and bounds we make toward achieving our goals. This is made possible with the input of our bright supporters and volunteers.
We offer a range of enjoyable workshops, social activities and events that promote sustainability and generate a sense of community and place.
